How to Make Homemade Food for Your Yorkie

A Yorkie's health is influence by what he eats. For that reason, homemade food is sometimes required. Some dogs, can't eat dog food and the owner has to make a food of his own. Some foods and its recipe which are recommended are: 

A. Yorkie meat and grain menu:
1. 2 cups of cooked rice
2. 2/3 cup of beef
3. 2 tea spoons of veggie oil
4. 1/4 cup of vegetables (no onion)

* Mix the supplements above. You can cook the meat if you want to. Give the mixture to your Yorkie     when slightly warm.

B. Yorkie Goulash:
1. 1 pound ground beef 
2. 2 cups of cooked rice
3. 2 cans of vegetables 
4. 2 eggs 
5. 1 can of mackerel
6. 2 cloves of garlic
7. 1 pound of chicken liver

* Pulverize veggies. Mix all ingredients in a big pot. Add water to cover. If you want to feed it raw,       place into containers or baggies. Simply get out in the morning to thaw in the fridge. 

C. Pumpkin Dog Biscuits:
1. 2 eggs  
2. 1/2 cup of pumpkin 
3. 2 tbs of dry milk
4. 1/4 tsp of sea salt
5. 2 1/2 cups of flour 

* Brown rice flour gives the biscuits better crunch and is easier to digest. And some dogs can be            allergic to wheat.

How to Care For a Sick Dog

It' s no fun seeing your dog feeling poorly. He relies on you to be his advocate when he is sick. Your first step is to recognize when your dog is sick, and to recognize the severity of the sickness. Some illnesses can be treated by yourself under your careful actions. However, some sicknesses are too dangerous and risky for you to care by yourself. These kind of illnesses require the special treatment of a vet. Whenever you are in doubt, don't hesitate to call a vet for advice. Sometimes, the situation can be life threatening. 

A. Recognizing Symptoms of Illness

1. Monitor your dogs daily activity.

2. Seek prompt vet attention with certain symptoms.

3. Get advice from your vet on a less severe situation.

B. Treating Illness at Home

1. Withhold food if your dog is vomiting or has diarrhea.

2. Make sure your dog drinks water.

3. Introduce a blend diet for one or two days.

4. Limit your dogs exercise and playtime.

5. Monitor your dogs urine output.

6. Monitor your dog' s symptoms closely.

7. Call your vet for advice.
